Economy and Tourism

The Prospect Meadows ball fields complex will be a destination for tournaments and events. Centrally located and within driving distance from many major markets - including Chicago, the Twin Cities, Kansas City and St. Louis - the complex is expected to attract more than 120,000 unique attendees each year, including 60,000 visitors filling up to 60,000 hotel-room nights through extended stays.Economy.JPG

Among PMBF's earliest and most prominent supporters is Cedar Rapids-based Perfect Game USA, the world's largest baseball scouting service. Perfect Game runs the largest full-field baseball events in the nation and anticipates heavy tournament usage of the PMBF facilities. Perfect Game president Jerry Ford describes the PMBF project as a much-needed resource and "a great asset to the young people in our community."

The partnership with Perfect Game is key to the complex's success. Their ability to bring players, teams and scouts to the area in unmatched.

The complex will boost area tourism. But this project's economic impact isn't limited to the tourism industry.

PMBF will create 155 full- and part-time jobs with an annual payroll in excess of $600,000. The estimated total economic impact is $20 million in direct spending each year.
