Warm weather. Good baseball. Long holiday weekend.

Those are the ingredients for the 17U WWBA Midwest Elite Championships at Prospect Meadows this weekend. After an explosion of 72 teams last Thursday through Sunday, the stage is set for Prospect Meadows’ largest July 4th weekend tournament to date. This week’s event which starts on Friday and runs through Sunday, will include 46 teams from nine states competing for the top prize before heading home for the 4th of July on Monday.

There are 25 teams from Illinois, giving the Land of Lincoln more than 50% of the entries. There are seven teams from Minnesota, five from Missouri, three from Michigan, two from Wisconsin and one apiece from Arkansas, Indiana, Tennessee and Kansas.

This is the busiest stretch of events ever at Prospect Meadows, with nearly 500 teams from 17 states visiting in June and July alone. All told, approximately 18,000 people will be visiting during these two months.

The 17U WWBA Midwest Elite Championships are sponsored by Perfect Game.
